The prestigious criminal lawyer Gabriel Garcías dies

This Friday morning the death in Palma of the lawyer Gabriel Garcias Planasone of the most prestigious criminal lawyers in the Balearic Islands and with extensive teaching activity at the University of the Balearic Islands, where he was a professor of Criminal Law. Garcías was born in Palma in 1948 and entered the Bar Association in 1977. He was also a member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of the Balearic Islands since its foundation, in 1988. Doctor from the Central University of Barcelona, ​​he has published numerous articles related to urban crimes, influence peddling and corruption.

It so happens that just a few weeks ago, the Bar Association awarded him the Degà Miquel Frontera Prize for Legal Ethics, the culmination of a long professional career -marked by numerous cases of enormous social and political impact- that in recent years had been affected by a vascular injury.

The disappearance of Gabriel Garcías has caused a huge shock between his fellow professionals and the judiciary.
