Dubai: An expatriate man has been sentenced to one month in jail for violating traffic rules while intoxicated in the UAE. The court also ordered the 42-year-old’s driver’s license to be revoked for six months. He was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol in the opposite direction of the road and committing other offenses, including violating a red signal.

He was arrested and taken into custody by Dubai Police’s security patrol after he was spotted driving in the wrong direction. The case was later registered at the Bardubai police station.

A breath analyzer test showed that he had consumed large amounts of alcohol. He pleaded guilty during questioning. The prosecution later directed that he be remanded in custody pending the completion of the investigation. He was then handed over to the court after completing all the other legal proceedings in the case. Following the completion of the trial, the court yesterday sentenced him to one month in jail and revoked his license for six months.
