For the first time in 30 years: US restricts arms purchases

US President Joe Biden today (Saturday) signed a law tightening regulations on arms procurement – the first federal reform in the field after 30 years. Among other things, the law deepens background checks on those seeking to purchase weapons and allows for information about crimes they committed while they were minors.

At the signing, the president referred to the drama surrounding the repeal of the ruling that abortion is a constitutional right: “Yesterday we talked about the Supreme Court decision – a decision that affects so many people, so many women. Today we are signing a law that will protect and save so many people.” .

Biden added that every day people are killed on the street, and no one hears. “The message to us was – do something, for God’s sake. Do something. Here, we do,” Biden said. “This is a historic day. May God bless the protection of possible murdered people, and the honor of the memory of the dead.”

Last month, America was shocked by the massacre at a school in Yuvaldi, Texas – which is considered one of the worst shooting incidents the country has seen. 19 students and two teachers were killed, 30 others were injured. The students who were murdered were in grades 2-4, ages 10-7. The shooter – 18-year-old Salvador Romas, killed after fortifying the place.
