In a candid radio interview ahead of the publication of his memoir, “Surrender,” Bono describes the discovery, and recounts how he finally resolved his difficult relationship with his late father, postal worker Brendan “Bob” Husson. “I have one more brother I love and admire,” he said on the morning show. Bono, whose real name is Paul, refers to finding a brother “that I did not know I did not have … or that I might have”. Learning about the existence of a half-brother, and a secret affair, helped Bono understand his father’s behavior at the time of the sudden death of his mother, Iris, when Bono was 14. His father died in 2001.

No one knows.” When he discovered the truth Bono challenged his father about their family life. “I asked him, ‘Did he love my mother?’. He said yes. ‘So I asked him,’ How can this happen? ‘ “And he said, ‘It can,’ and that he tried to fix it, trying to do the right thing. He did not apologize, he just said those were the facts.
