Argentine striker Jorge Pereira Dias was the star of the Kerala Blasters last season. Dias, who arrived at the Blasters on loan from Argentine club Atletico Plato, was instrumental in the team’s entry into the ISL final. Diaz, who has become a Blasters fan favorite in just one season, is all set to return to the Blasters this season.
Diaz’s decisive decision
Diaz has a contract with his model club, Atletico Plato, until the end of this year. However, there are indications that he wants to return to the Kerala Blasters and has made the crucial decision to split with the Argentine club. It is reported that some other foreign clubs were also in the market wanting to acquire Diaz but his decision to return to the Blasters was rejected. Anyway, this news is a big boost for the Kerala Blasters fans.
Performance of Diaz
Dias, who has played 21 matches in the 2021-22 season ISL, has scored eight goals and set one goal. Dias, who had been working hard on the field, had posed a great threat to Kerala in the face of the opposing goal while receiving the set pieces. Diaz, who looked great on and off the field, was a perfect example of what a team player should look like.

Jorge Pereira Diaz is a player who started his professional career in 2008 playing for Argentine club Ferro Carrillo. In addition to India and Argentina, Dias has played in Chile, Mexico, Malaysia and Bolivia. Dias, who has played 165 games for the club so far, has scored 38 goals and set 14 goals.
Third foreign player in the Blasters
Last season, the Kerala Blasters’ foreign players were Jorge Pereira Dias, Alvaro Vasquez, Adrian Luna, Chencho Gilshan, Marlo Leskovic and Ennes Sipovic. Of these, Chencho Gilshan, Alvaro Vasquez and Enas Sipovic left the club. The club renewed the contract of Marco Leskovic. Adrian Luna has one more year left on his contract with the club. In other words, Dias is the third foreign player in the Kerala Blasters this season.
Preparations of Kerala Blasters
The Kerala Blasters are making strenuous preparations ahead of the 2022-23 season. They have already acquired young Indian players Bryce Miranda and Sourav Mandal to bring Dias to the team. However, Vince Barreto, Saitasen Singh, Albino Gomez, Marco Leskovic and Chencho Augilson, who were part of the team last season, have already left the club.
