It will soon become official: Gabriel Jesus will move to Arsenal for 45 million pounds and sign a contract until 2027, Fabrizio Romano reported today (Sunday).
As you may recall, the 25-year-old Brazilian striker arrived at Manchester City from the Palmyra five and a half years ago and has since been a regular player in the Blues’ rotation. His peak season came in 2019/20, when he scored 14 league goals and another six goals in the Champions League. Last season he scored eight league goals and netted another nine, and in the Champions League he added four more.
In total, Jesus made 236 appearances for the Manchester City uniform, scoring 95 goals and scoring 46 more assists. He will now move on to the next chapter in his career, where he is set to be a more significant player than the Blues, with whom he has made less than 30 league appearances in each of the last two seasons.
Arsenal, who parted ways last season with Pierre-Emerick Obmiang, and this summer also with Alexander Lacazette, are targeting the Brazilian for the first striker position. Whoever will compete with him for the place in the squad will be Eddie Naktia, who recently signed a new contract.
