Doha: A passenger trying to smuggle banned tobacco products into Qatar has been arrested at Doha’s Hamad International Airport. A detailed search by the customs inspector revealed 26.95 kg of prohibited items. A picture of a tobacco product like pan masala seized by the authorities was also released through Customs’ social media page.

Qatar Customs has warned travelers not to attempt to smuggle illicit goods into the country. Customs officials warned that routinely trained inspections with the help of modern equipment could detect any violations and even identify such passengers by their body language. Customs officials said in a statement that the officers were aware of the latest practices adopted by smugglers.
