“The bombardment of a shopping center in Kremenchuk by Russia is an absolute horror”, declared the head of state on Monday, after Russian strikes which left at least 13 dead and dozens injured on Monday afternoon . “We share the pain of the families of the victims. And anger at such ignominy. The Russian people must see the truth,” Emmanuel Macron wrote on Twitter, attaching a video of the incident to his text.

This Russian missile strike against a shopping center in Kremenchuk, in central Ukraine, killed at least 13 people, according to local authorities. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the mall was hit by Kh-22 anti-ship missiles fired from Tu-22 long-range bombers from Russia’s Kursk region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier in the evening denounced “one of the most shameless terrorist acts in European history”, speaking of a “peaceful city, an ordinary shopping center (with) inside women , children, ordinary civilians”. According to him, a thousand people were inside the building but “many people managed to get out”.

According to the president, rescue operations are still in progress and “the human losses could be significant”, a fire having broken out on an area of ​​10,000 m2 after the explosion.

This city in central Ukraine had some 220,000 inhabitants before the war and had so far been spared from bombardment.
