Mask | Government tightens mask use in state; Violation of the order guarantees punishment

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has ordered the use of masks in the state in view of the increasing number of Kovid cases. The order states that the mask must be worn in public places, gatherings, workplaces and when traveling in a vehicle.

The government said it would take disciplinary action against violators under the law, including the Disaster Prevention Act of 2005.

SPs directed to tighten mask inspection in the state. ADGP Vijaya Sakhar, who is in charge of law and order, directed the district police chiefs. Masks must be worn in public places and on trips. The ADGP’s circular said the government’s directive comes in the wake of rising daily Kovid figures in the state.

A total of 2994 Kovid cases were reported in the state last day. Twelve people have died of Kovid infection. Thiruvananthapuram district has the highest number of Kovid cases reported in the state. 782 cases. Kovid cases are most prevalent in Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts.

More than 3,000 Kovid cases have been reported in the state in the last one week. In one week, 40 people died of Kovid infection. It is in this context that the government has decided to tighten the use of masks.
