The ICC is re-launching the Test Championship Series at a time when interest in Test cricket is on the decline due to the increasing popularity of T20 matches in modern day cricket, and is currently hosting the Test Championship to further heighten the fan base on Test cricket. Although many players have played in Tests for India in that category, some of the most talented players have never had the opportunity to play in a Test team. Yusvendra Sahal, 31, has never played in a Test match before.

He made his debut for India in 2016 and has so far played in 61 ODIs and 61 T20s but has not played a single Test. While he has stated that his ambition is to play in the Test team for India, former England spinner Graeme Swann has shared some comments in his favor.

Because Sahil is a world-class spinner. I think he is the best spinner out there right now. He performs well even when there is snow and moisture. Will he perform better in Test matches? Isn’t it I do not know. But he is the best spinner in ODIs and T20s.
