The central government has termed the Udaipur murder as a terrorist act. The Central Government had directed the NIA to take over the case. The proposal calls for a detailed investigation into foreign conspiracies. The victim was identified as Kanaya Lal Taley, 40. Ghaus Mohammad and Riyaz Akhtari were arrested in connection with the murder. The images posted by Riyaz Akhtari on social media indicate a hint of IS.

Extreme vigilance was declared in the state and the internet was cut off for 24 hours. About 600 policemen have been deployed at the scene and in the surrounding areas. Curfew was imposed in seven police stations. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that strong action will be taken against the perpetrators and urged the people not to spread video of the murder scenes.

Dhanwandi police station assistant SI Dhanwar Lal has been suspended for not being vigilant despite death threats against slain Kanaya Lal Taley. On June 15, Kanaya Lal lodged a complaint with the police alleging death threats. A few days back, some had complained that Kanaya Lal, who runs Supreme Tailors, a tailoring shop in Dhanmandi, had shared a message in support of Nupur Sharma, a former BJP spokesperson who had spoken out against the Prophet. Kanaya Lal was then called by the police and warned. According to police, Kanaya Lal had received threats from some organizations after this.
