Maccabi Haifa continues its preparations for the 2022/23 season. Less than three weeks before she officially starts the season when she meets Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Champions League and plays in a pair of meetings against Olympiacos in the Champions League qualifiers, the Greens hosted Maccabi Netanya in the “foam” training ground yesterday (Tuesday) and defeated Bnei Lem’s team 1: 2.
In the 26th minute, the champion took a 0: 1 lead when Mavis Chibuta cooked for Dean David, and in the 74th minute the new-old acquisition, Nikita Rokavica, found an excellent ball for Ilai Hajjaj, who scored the second goal for the Greens. A minute later, Yaniv Mizrahi shrank to win the diamonds, but it did not help them and Haifa came out of the game with a hand on the top.
On Friday the 1.7, the team will hold a training match against Hapoel Afula and another match on 5.7 against Maccabi Bnei Reina. After the end of the camp in Israel, the champion will go to the main training camp in the Netherlands and take off on 06.07. The camp, to be held in the pastoral town of Mirlo, will feature two warm-up games: the first will be against Belgian side Mechelen on 9.7, with the second three days later against Vitesse Arnhem.
The team will return to Israel on 13.07 and prepare for the Champions League match against Hapoel B’Shlosha on 16.7 at the Sami Ofer Stadium and of course for the pair of Champions League qualifiers against Olympiacos on 20.07 in Sami Ofer and 27.07 in Greece.
