One of the pastors said that he was saddened by the dictatorship of Nicaragua forcing the nuns to leave the country and that he himself witnessed the loving and dedicated work of the nuns and wished them full blessings.

Silvio José Baez, Managua’s deputy bishop, said on his Twitter page that the nuns had been expelled from the Central American country of Nicaragua by the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The evictions are reportedly the result of a series of state repressions in the country and a series of attacks on the Catholic Church and its workplace.

On Tuesday, June 28, several Catholic leaders announced on their Twitter page the news of the expulsion of the nuns, and the Nicaraguan media reported the news.

Sisters of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith of St. Teresa run an abandoned youth home, nursing home, and nursery school for low-income families in Nicaragua.

Yucca reports that Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and his allies have used their power to win opinion polls last year that persecution of Catholics and civilians has increased, and that he continues to hold political prisoners and close all shops for political reasons. (UCAN)
