Veteran and beloved singer Yardena Arazi is on her way to releasing a new album, about six years after the previous one – “Oh My Homeland” – a live performance album from the joint show with the Gevatron. On the occasion of the event, or because she just wanted to, Arazi conducted a Q&A session on her Instagram story.

On the new album, she said that “we are in the midst of work on a new and very special album, and the excitement is just as great as before the first album I released 40 years ago exactly.”

One of the fans asked her “Who was your ‘Jordana Arazi’?” And Arazi replied that it was the iconic Julie Andrews from the movie Sounds of Music, “I saw the sounds of music and immediately realized I wanted to be a singer.”

Another fan asked a bold question, “Did you forgive Ephraim Shamir for ‘Are you beautiful’?” As you may recall, Ephraim Shamir wrote the song when he was in love with Yardena Arazi, when they were together in the Nahal band. The most memorable and difficult line from there is “You will never know true love.”
Despite this, Arazi says that “I was never angry with him. I was in the market, I was amazed but I was not angry. I knew in my heart that sentence was not true.

Arazi was later asked which song she regretted not singing, and revealed that she was supposed to sing the song “Hallelujah” which won the Eurovision Song Contest 1979, and was sung by Gali Atari with a band of milk and honey. Arazi says that “I had to choose between hosting the Eurovision Song Contest and participating in Kedem with this song, and I went for sure.”

She was also asked about the media tension between her and the late singer Ofra Haza, and whether they performed together. Arazi replied that “we did not perform together, but we did have the opportunity to have a long, very personal and touching conversation.”
