5:34 p.m. : Norway announces a donation of nearly one billion euros to Ukraine over two years. This major donation of 10 billion Norwegian crowns (approximately 970 million euros), which comes on top of previous aid announced by Oslo, is to be used for “humanitarian aid, the reconstruction of the country, arms and support for the functioning of the authorities” Ukrainians, the Norwegian government said in a statement.
17h33 : On the kyiv side, schools will reopen on September 1 and education will be provided in the presence of students, announced the authorities of the Ukrainian capital. 13h37 : Poland, a country neighboring Ukraine, is buying 32 AW149 military helicopters from the Italian Leonardo, announced the Polish Minister of Defense, Mariusz Blaszczak. Cost of the operation: 1.75 billion euros. The first helicopters are to be delivered to the Polish army next year. According to the Minister, Poland has ordered a version of AW149 from Leonardo “heavily armed”, equipped with anti-tank missiles. The contract also provides for the delivery of a set of integrated logistics and training.

The culture of Ukrainian borsch, an age-old soup made from beetroot, usually served with bread or garlic rolls, has entered UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Danger. “The existence of this soup (…) is not in danger in itself, but it is the human and living heritage which is associated with borsch which is in immediate danger because the capacity of the populations to practice, to transmit their intangible cultural heritage is seriously disrupted by the armed conflict”explained Pier Luigi Petrillo, the rapporteur of the evaluation committee of the Ukrainian file.
