Job dating: 200 vacancies… “to talent” in the hotel and catering industry

by time news

“Young people often say: I go to talent. This sentence infused us and we told ourselves that we were going to recruit by letting people come with their talent, their naturalness and their spontaneity. No resume needed, these are just simulations. Nicolas Saint-Marc, Vice-Present Talent and Culture Operations France at Accor, immediately sets the scene for the final employment meeting which will take place this Tuesday, July 5 (from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at the Pullman Paris Bercy (1 , rue de Libourne, 12th arrondissement).

The reason for this job dating without CV? “We have occupations under pressure such as receptionist, kitchen clerk, chambermaid or valet, waiter, almost everywhere but more particularly in Paris and throughout the Ile-de-France. There was a strong rebound in tourist activity but also in business travel. It’s very good but it has put our organizations under pressure. This is why we have already organized sessions in Lyon and Bordeaux in June and why in July we are doing Paris”, continues the manager.

“We look at everything, the passion or the know-how of the candidate, the smiles”

If classic bars and restaurants are obviously very affected, the giants of the sector are too and have had to deal with a flight of their staff since the start of the Covid episode. No less than 237,000 employees left these professions during the pandemic, and 30% of positions are unfilled, according to Umih (Union of trades and hotel industries). To attract people who have not necessarily had a traditional career in hotel schools, Accor has therefore decided to bet on simulation.

Candidates will be placed in a situation with around sixty recruiters from Ibis, Mercure, Novotel, MGallery and Sofitel hotels in Paris and its outskirts. It is then up to them to show that beyond a CV, they can be the perfect person for this job.

“We look at everything, the passion or the know-how of the candidate, the smiles, continues Nicolas Saint-Marc. Just register online. On D-Day, with those who will ultimately not come, we expect to receive between 200 and 250 candidates. For these, after the simulation, if it matches, they will receive a Voucher for hiring which will tell them which hotel wishes to recruit them and the date of the appointment. Once there, they will discover the job with those who already practice it in our teams and will be trained in our processes in a traditional way. »
