As expected, Météo France issued, at the end of the afternoon of Friday 1is July 2022, an orange vigilance bulletin for “ heavy rain and thunderstorms for Guadeloupe. The population is therefore called upon to be extremely vigilant.
The meteorological center of Raizet maintains, for the moment, yellow vigilance, for ” waves-submergence and strong winds », as far as the archipelago is concerned. Ditto for Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, islands affected by heavy rainfall and strong winds.
The first stormy showers crossed Guadeloupe this afternoon.
Between 3 a.m. and 4 p.m., heavy rainfall was measured at Bouillante (30mm), on the Mamelles road (20.7mm), at Gros Morne Petit-Bourg (19.5mm), at Basses in Grand-Bourg de Marie-Galante (10.4mm) and La Désirade (9.1mm).
The strongest winds are those that blew at La Désirade (110 km/h), at Blanchet Morne-à-l’Eau (76.7 km/h) and at Christophe Goyave (72.4 km/h).
As reported in the morning, the effects of the tropical wave crossing the arc of the Lesser Antilles are now being felt more. And this is likely to go crescendo.

The coastal areas to the east of Marie-Galante and Les Saintes are still exposed to the risk of marine flooding. The troughs could reach up to 3.5 meters in east to east-south-east swells overnight from Friday to Saturday. Unusual surf and localized flooding are possible on exposed coasts.

The first rains are expected at the start of the night, in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. The most significant rainy activity is expected on Saturday morning, with passages of heavy showers, sometimes stormy. The risk of heavy rain continues on Saturday, with thunderstorms that can affect the islands at the back of the wave. Significant accumulations of the order of 40 to 60mm in 3 hours are possible.
The passage of this active wave generates many gusts, between 70 and 85 km / h, even 90 km / h, in Saint-Barthélemy, especially during the night from Friday to Saturday and in the morning of Saturday.
