There was a lot of encouragement after my first column. There was talk of “huge footsteps” and a “difficult succession”. Fortunately, I have pretty big feet myself, and succession is as difficult as it is made for yourself. There was also criticism. Why I follow “modern ignorance” and use the gender star, asked a reader. An old friend wrote that women would be degraded to “footnotes in world affairs”. There is no need for gender-based language, but gender-based thinking.
