Pandalur: Pandalur is home to dry-land plums. Native to India and Southeast Asia, the plum tree grows in arid regions.
Icham fruit has the ability to remove various defects including bone wear and eye damage. This fruit is grown in Bandalur, Nilgiris district. One and a half kilos are being sold at 100 rupees. Ganesan, a retired forester, said, “The fact that echam fruits are grown in arid regions shows that the climate is changing. If the fruit yield is to be good, the temperature should be high,” he said.
