Muscat: Oman Athletics Team to participate in West Asian Youth (Under 20) Athletics Championship to be held in Lebanon from Sunday. The matches will be held at the Al Jamhoor Sports Club Stadium till the 6th of this month. Lebanon will be the venue for the second edition of the championship. Events like 100m, 400m, 800m, 1000m, 3000m, 4×400 relay, shot put, long jump and javelin will be held.

The meet is overseen by the Lebanese Athletics Federation in collaboration with the Asian Athletics Federation. The host countries like Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Yemen, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Oman are participating in the meet. The Oman team is led by Oman Athletics Association (OAA) Vice Chairman Saeed Al Hadi.

Al Mansaf Al Fatnazi is the head coach. Hamza Al Jabri, Adnan Al Shiswani, Abdul Aziz Al Habsi, Moyad Al Salami, Sheikha Al Hinai, Alaa Al Sadjali, Ahmed Al Abdusalam, Numir Al Busaidi, Alia Al Mughairi, Ayham Al Hosni, Mubeen Al Kindi, Afnan Al Balushi, Khalid Al Syabi and Maryam Al Shukail will play for the Sultanate. In the championship held in 2019, Lebanon was the first place. Due to the covid pandemic, the competition was not held in the previous years.
