Roja Ignatova, who is apparently at the center of one of the world’s biggest crypto scam cases, has entered the FBI’s ten most wanted list.
Ignatova is accused of defrauding an international pyramid, which stole over $ 4 billion between 2014-2016 using the OneCoin cryptocurrency.
Ignatova, known as the “Queen of Crypto”, ordered people from all over the world to transfer money to OneCoin’s bank account to purchase the digital currency, but the currency was not active and could not be used. The FBI says this is a pyramid scam because the money that came in was transferred to Ignatova and other investors who invested in the currency in its early days.
The currency returned investors so much money that they did not know what to do with it, according to the indictment. Investors converted it into cash, invested in apartments in Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Dubai and South Korea, invested in horse racing stables in Abu Dhabi and more.
Ignatova, who previously worked for the McKinsey Consulting Corporation, was convicted in federal court in 2017 but has not yet been caught. She apparently moved from Bulgaria, from where the scam was activated to Greece, accompanied by armed guards, according to the FBI.
The FBI is offering a $ 100,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Roja Igantova.
