Chennai: Chennai railway division officials have said that if railway shopkeepers travel using ‘pass’ in the first class coaches of electric trains, appropriate action will be taken.

More than 450 electric trains run daily from Chennai on Chengalpattu, Tirumalpur, Tiruvallur, Arakkonam route. There is a rush of passengers in the morning and in the evening. Therefore, to travel without crowding to some extent, passengers are traveling by paying extra money and taking the first class ‘pass’. However, some have complained that they are traveling in these coaches without proper tickets or passes.

About this, some passengers said: To travel without traffic jams, we travel by paying first class pass between 1,200 rupees and 2,300 rupees. A total of 100 seats in a train are allotted for this. But without proper pass, railway shop level employees come and travel more and more.

In particular, railway employees from northern states are the most frequent commuters. Even if we give extra money, there is a situation where we have to stop and go. The railway administration should take appropriate action in this regard.

Chennai Railway Division officials said: Railway shopkeepers should not use their own pass to travel in the first class compartment of electric trains. If they travel beyond that, appropriate departmental action will be taken against them. Also, we are going to conduct a surprise check on the first class coaches of electric trains through ticket inspection, they said.
