Michael Vaughan Urges Struggling England Batter to Learn From Sachin Tendulkar’s Famous Double-century in Sydney Test

by time news
There seems to be no end to England opener Jack Crawley’s woeful scores. In the first innings of the Edgbaston Test against India, Crawley was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah for 9 runs. Crawley, who has played 45 innings in Test cricket, has also been dismissed in single-digit scores 23 times. Speaking about Crawley’s poor form, former England captain Michael Vaughan urged him to learn from Sachin Tendulkar’s Test innings.

As he wrote in The Telegraph:

In 2004, when Sachin Tendulkar was playing in Australia, the balls splashed on the seam and he was getting edged out for a drive. What did he do about it? He decided not to play the drive in Sydney, and that too not to be played on the off side. He scored 241 runs. Crawley should try this.

When the ball is new, the drive is not played for 2 hours. Do you know why you need to get out if you are doing the same thing over and over again? Bowlers are not stupid.

Crawley is ineligible for international cricket at his poor average. The problems begin when one favors Crawley too much.

So says Michael Vaughan. But Michael Vaughn doesn’t understand one thing, Sachin Tendulkar another, Jack Crawley another.
