New Delhi: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. has challenged the Madras High Court’s order prohibiting the passing of unannounced new resolutions in the AIADMK single leadership meeting. Palaniswami (EPS), the Supreme Court said on Monday that it will hear the appeal filed next Wednesday (July 6).

The matter was heard by Justices Indira Banerjee, J.K. The vacation session of the Supreme Court, which included Mr. Maheshwari, said, ‘It will be heard on July 6 subject to the permission of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on the related appeal petition’.

Earlier, a request was made on Monday before the Supreme Court chaired by Indira Banerjee to list the appeals for urgent hearing.

Regarding this issue, the petitioner Edappadi K. Balaji Srinivasan, senior advocate C.S. on behalf of Palaniswami. Vaidyanathan appeared and said ‘The petition filed on our behalf should be listed for hearing as a matter of urgency. The division session of the Chennai High Court, without proper consideration of this case related to the AIADMK internal party issue, has issued an order at midnight on June 23rd at 4 am. The party could not take any new decisions due to the Supreme Court order. This court order interferes in the affairs of the political party. The contempt petition filed alleging violation of the interim order is also being heard in the High Court on Monday,’ he argued.

At that time, advocate Gautham Shivshank, appearing for O. Panneerselvam, who had filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court, objected to list this petition for urgent hearing and argued, ‘This is an interim order. The matter is still pending before the Supreme Court. Thus, there is no need to investigate this urgently in the vacation session. An order has been passed on the original petition. The petition is still pending in the Supreme Court. “Contempt cases have also been filed in connection with the violation of the orders of the High Court,” he argued.

Advocate Vinod Khanna appeared for Natham Viswanathan.

Subsequently, the Chief Justice of the Session of the Judges ordered that the petition should be listed for hearing on July 6.
