Dominique Faure, new “Madame Rurality” of the Borne 2 government

The Borne 2 government has reviewed its copy and appointed Dominique Faure, 62, Secretary of State in charge of rurality, to the Minister for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, Christophe Béchu – the latter ceding territorial cohesion to Caroline Cayeux, Director of the National Agency for Territorial Cohesion.

A center-right woman, member of the Radical Party and rising figure of Macronie: Mme Faure is a continuation of her predecessor Joël Giraud – also from the Radical Party and to whom she is close –, the “Mister Rurality” of the previous five-year term named after the crisis of “yellow vests” and the great debate. “I have always defended the strengthening of links between our territories. I am proud to be able to bring it to the government. I have a thought for the Lauragais. I will put what I learned there at the service of France,” reacted the new entrant on Twitter.

Former high-level tennis player, holder of an engineering degree from INSA in Lyon and an MBA from HEC Paris, Mme Faure worked in large groups (IBM, Motorola, SFR, Veolia), led a human resources consulting firm, before entering politics during the 2012 legislative elections.

The cast questions

Just elected on June 19, on the wire, deputy (Renaissance) of the 10e constituency of Haute-Garonne, she will have to give up her seat to her deputy. As well as her chair as mayor of Saint-Orens-de-Gameville – a city of 12,000 inhabitants in the Toulouse conurbation which she has been leading since 2014, where she lives –, as well as the vice-presidency of Toulouse Métropole. However, she will remain a metropolitan and municipal councillor. Mother of three children, M.me Faure has been an expert advisor for large companies for three years. She also accompanies her husband, manager of a hotel-restaurant, of which she is a co-shareholder.

If the rural elected representatives are pleased to find an interlocutor who is fully devoted to them, the casting of an elected representative considered urban questions. “We need detailed knowledge of rural realities”recalls Bernard Delcros, president of the Rural Parliament – ​​which brings together elected officials, business leaders, associations –, which will bring ” as soon as possible “ priority projects.
