During the Thai Hand Massage Class, participants receive a Nuad Thai Massage – based on acupressure, stretching and meditation – over the clothing on a mat. After 30 minutes there is a switch and you give yourself a Nuad Thai Massage under the guidance of the teacher. The instructions are easy to follow. Massage experience is not necessary.

Stress-related complaints

In recent years, ITM Thai Hand Amsterdam has seen an enormous increase in the number of people with stress-related complaints. However, the vast majority require more treatments than is financially feasible. The massage school was looking for a solution to help as many people as possible to combat the dangers of stress and inactivity, which we face in our society today.

Because the first results of the participants in the Thai Hand Massage Classes are so overwhelming, the massage school decided to offer the classes for free this summer so that more people can experience the benefits for themselves.

Inactivity

In recent years, stress and burnout complaints have increased. In addition, more and more people are sitting more than 8 hours a day. This often causes complaints such as headaches, neck pain, back pain and stiff shoulders. In addition, people with a sedentary job and a lot of stress have a greater chance of a heart attack, diabetes, cancer, muscle weakening, osteoporosis, thrombosis and depression. In fact, research by the World Health Organization WHO shows that inactivity is the fourth leading cause of death worldwide. (WHO, 2019)

“Thai Hand Massage Classes are the result of more than 10 years of research,” says Manuel Luque Aguilera, co-founder of Massage School ITM Thai Hand Amsterdam. “What happens in your body by giving and receiving this form of massage during class is quite complex.”

Overall health

“In short, it means that you improve your overall health enormously. This way you reduce stress, by reducing cortisol. Your immune system gets a boost through the movement of lymph. The massage inhibits inflammation and has a positive influence on your bowel movements. In addition, common aches and pains such as back pain, headaches and shoulder pain are reduced as your fascia, which can press on the nerve, becomes healthier. Every time I teach, I am amazed at what it does to people: They often come in stressed or in pain and leave happy and relaxed after an hour. I invite you to experience it for yourself.”
