by time news

It’s now official: the new PSG coach is called Christophe Galtier. The former Saint-Étienne, Lille and Nice technician signed up for two seasons, until June 2024. He signed his contract with his staff at the club’s headquarters on Monday. The Marseillais by birth was presented this Tuesday from 2 p.m. during a press conference organized at the Parc des Princes. He will then lead his first training session at 4:30 p.m. at Camp des Loges.

To secure the services of Christophe Galtier, PSG paid 5 million euros to buy the two remaining years of contract with OGC Nice, which the coach had joined in the summer of 2021. On the Côte d’Azur , he was replaced by Lucien Favre. Christophe Galtier becomes the seventh coach of the QSI (Qatar Sports Investments) era at PSG, which began in the 2011-2012 season.

“I am moved, proud, began Christophe Galtier. I arrived 45 minutes ago at the Parc des Princes. It is a symbol of French football. There is a sentence: “Here it is Paris”. Faced with this sentence, you can feel the expectations. We will all have to work together in the right direction to make people happy. I measure the responsibility that I am given to achieve a great season. I prepared for it. If I accepted this post, these responsibilities, it is because I am capable of it. Alone, it is very difficult. Together, we are much stronger”.

He succeeds Antoine Kombouaré, Carlo Ancelotti, Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino. The appointment of Galtier also formalizes the departure of the latter. After endless negotiations relating to his last year of contract with the club of the capital, the separation between the Argentinian and Paris is recorded, all against ten million euros in compensation.
