by time news

Her Majesty Queen Máxima presented the campaign of the Eye Fund on Wednesday morning 6 July in the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. ‘Kick myopia out of the world’ launched. As part of the campaign, she spoke with eye specialists, employees of the Eye Fund and children with nearsightedness (myopia) and their parents. This is reported by the national government.

The Eye Fund finances scientific research into the prevention and treatment of eye problems. In addition, the foundation supports patient associations in improving the quality of life for people with a visual impairment. A new study by the fund shows that the eye quality of Dutch youth is deteriorating: more and more children are becoming short-sighted as a result of much closer viewing and little daylight. Over the next 30 years, 50,000 people are expected to be blinded by myopia. To put a stop to this eye disease and raise awareness among children, their parents and teachers, the Eye Fund is launching the campaign ‘Kick myopia out of the world!’.
