Due to the complaint filed by a Kuruvachan named Jose Kuruvinakunnel, the film’s release faced uncertainty. A single bench of the High Court had directed the Censor Board to look into the complaint. His complaint was that the movie is based on his life and there are scenes in the movie that insult him and his family.
The High Court directed the Single Bench Censor Board to check this. The Censor Board has suggested to use another name instead of Kuruvachan as the name of Prithviraj’s character in the film.
The Censor Board said in its order that the movie Katuva cannot be said to be a true portrayal of the life of the complainant Kuruvinakunnel Kuruvachan and there is nothing in the film that portrays the complainant badly.
