Monkeypox virus has been confirmed in more than 4000 people in more than 50 countries. The World Health Organization has expressed concern that monkeypox has spread to children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. The World Health Organization says the virus has not reached the level to declare a global health emergency.
It is assumed that the virus now circulating has evolved from the first monkeypox virus discovered in Africa. Symptoms of monkeypox include fever, chills, body aches, fatigue, rashes, and blisters that start on the face and hands and spread to other parts of the body. Many patients recover within weeks without any special medication.
The Director General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. WHO sources said it was investigating monkeypox outbreaks in Spain and France among people under the age of 18. The majority of monkeypox cases are reported in homosexual men. The LGBTQI+ community is also raising awareness about the virus.
