Vaccination passport to the National Assembly | Divided parties

by time news

(Quebec) The parties clash over the vaccine passport in the National Assembly: the Coalition Avenir Quebec (CAQ) and the Liberal Party (PLQ) want to impose it on Parliament, but the Parti Quebecois (PQ) refuses.

The representatives of the four parties recognized in the Assembly will meet Thursday evening to decide, but as the Caquists and the Liberals are in the majority, they will be able to impose the vaccination passport for anyone who sets foot in Parliament.

However, the Department of Public Health did not recommend it.

At a press conference Thursday morning, PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon argued for his part that we must stick to the advice of Public Health and not politicize this issue.

According to him, imposing a vaccination passport on the Assembly contributes to fueling the suspicion of many citizens who are already angry with elected officials.

He recalled that the vaccination passport is required for non-essential activities, while parliamentary democracy, according to him, is essential.
