Freetown (Sierra Leone): Winning a match 95-0 in football is questionable. What if another match ended with almost the same score at the same time? Don’t think twice about fixing it. This result surprised the world football in the West African country of Sierra Leone. 187 goals were scored in 180 minutes in the league match that determines the teams seeking promotion to the country’s first division league!

The match between Gulf FC and Coquima Lebanon was won by the Gulf team with a score of 91-1. Meanwhile, Kahunla Rangers also claimed a ‘huge win’ against Lumbebu United by a one-sided 95 goals.

Both teams had equal points going into the matches. The score level turned the calculations of the game upside down in a situation where the goal average is considered to determine the team that reaches the first division. Gulf was leading 7-1 at the break. Kahunla, on the other hand, was leading 2-0. It was after this that the ‘goal rain’ fell.

Both the losing teams left their goal open for the opposing team to score. The ‘Corriere dello Sport’ newspaper reported that one of the referees walked off the field in protest at the change in the course of the game in a very ridiculous manner. The Sierra Leone Football Association has ordered an investigation into the outcome of both matches. President of the association Thomas Dadi Brima said that the culprits will be given severe punishment. According to the Guinness Book, in 2002, A.S. Adema’s 149-0 thrashing of SO Emirne currently holds the record for the biggest win.
