15.50 lakh rupees seized from former minister Kamaraj’s house!

Regarding the search being conducted at the house and offices belonging to the former Minister Kamaraj, in a press release issued by the Anti-Corruption Department, it was informed that a complaint was received that Kamaraj, who is a former Minister of Food and Consumer Supply and is currently a Member of Legislative Assembly of Nannilam Constituency, has accumulated more assets than his income.

During the investigation, during his tenure as Minister of Food and Consumer Supply from 01/04/2015 to 31/03/2022, he misused his government position and indulged in various corrupt activities for personal gain by acquiring movable and immovable properties in excess of his income in his name and his family members. 58,44,38,252 has been accumulated in his name and in the name of his close relatives and friends. A total of 52 locations including 38 in Thanjavur, 6 in Chennai, 4 in Thanjavur, 3 in Trichy and one in Coimbatore were tested.

In this case, 15.50 lakh rupees in cash has been seized in the search conducted at his premises today. Also, bank vault keys, iPhone, computer, pen drive, hard disk, documents, 41.06 lakh rupees, 963 pieces of jewelery and 23,960 grams of silver have been confiscated, according to the Income Tax Department.
