Angel Di Maria (Reuters)
After six seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, Angel Di Maria moves as a free agent to Juventus in what is expected to be his final destination in the European top flight. The 34-year-old winger, who was also linked with Barcelona, will strengthen Massimiliano Allegri’s side in the near future and will try to help them regain the championship title after two years of shuffling in the league.
The main controversy in the negotiations between the parties was over the length of the contract. The Argentine wanted a one-season contract in which he could prepare for the World Cup at the highest level, then return to Rosario Central where he grew up for a retirement season, but the old lady demanded a two-year signing. Finally, both parties agreed on the length of the contract and signed it just before the training camp opened.
Di Maria arrives at Juventus with an impressive resume, which includes five French championships with PSG, four wins in the French Cup and also a Champions League win with Real Madrid in 2014. During his career he also moved to Benfica, Manchester United and as mentioned at Rosario Central, where he played for one season before moving to Europe.
