Police are carrying out dozens of searches in Sicily with the aim of identifying where the number one boss of Cosa Nostra is hiding Matteo Messina Money, fugitive since 1993. They are involved in the checks, ordered by the Dda of Palermo about 150 agents of the mobile teams of Palermo, Trapani and Agrigento, supported by the men of the operational central service and the crime prevention departments of Sicily and Calabria.

The searches were carried out in particular against a number of subjects suspected of being supporters of Messina Denaro and of characters considered close or contiguous to the mafia families of Trapani and Agrigento. The policemen are operating in Castelvetrano, Campobello di Mazara, Santa Ninfa, Partanna, Mazara del Vallo, Santa Margherita Belice and Roccamena (Palermo).
