Sri Lanka’s economy is on the verge of a bad phase. The Sri Lankan government is bankrupt due to lack of foreign exchange reserves. Inflation reached 70 percent, making food prices unaffordable for the common man.
The Sri Lankan government’s misguided and destructive economic policies have forced people to beggars overnight. The people of Sri Lanka continue to fight against the government which has pushed the nation into a bad economic situation.
People have been protesting since last February demanding the resignation of the Rajapaksa family who have brought the country to ruin. While everyone in the Rajapaksa family stepped down, President Gotabaya was not the only one to step down.
People have been actively fighting for the last few days demanding the resignation of Gotabaya Rajapaksa as President. In this case, the ongoing protest in front of the President’s House has gone out of control since this morning. Defying the police barricades, the people invaded and captured the President’s House.
Videos of people protesting in Sri Lanka are going viral on social media. The Australian cricket team recently toured Sri Lanka. The Australian soldiers heard about the condition of the people there, power cuts and price hikes.
