Purchasing power: what aid is provided for the most modest households?

by time news

Faced with galloping inflation, many households have already changed their consumption habits, hoping to reduce their energy and food bills as much as possible. The government provides in its Purchasing Power bill, which must still be submitted to the vote of the Assembly, several measures to try to cushion the shock for the most fragile households. Who will be affected by these measures and under what conditions? The Parisian takes stock.

A food check

The measure was first designed to help low-income households buy essentially local, organic or quality products. In its new formula, this “emergency food aid” of 100 euros, plus 50 euros per dependent child, will ultimately be paid to at least eight million low-income households, so that they can spend it as they see fit.

This device, the outlines of which have still not been decided upon, should be implemented in the form of a bank transfer. But some questions remain: what products can be purchased with this voucher? Which establishments will accept it? “No one has offered us a device that is immediately operational now in the face of peak inflation,” acknowledged the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, last month.

A revaluation of the activity bonus

For workers in difficulty, the government still wants to increase the activity bonus by 4%. The measure must be able to “protect all those who work” so that “work pays and guarantees a dignified standard of living even when there is such a high level of inflation”, had further defended the tenant of Bercy.

As a reminder, the activity bonus is aimed at those over 18 with various profiles (students, apprentices, employees, trainees, etc.) but with particularly modest resources. The amount of this social assistance is calculated according to your situation and your income. A simulator is online to know your rights.

A revaluation of social minima

Wanting to support the most fragile, the executive also plans to increase by 4% family benefits and social minima related to work. This ranges from the active solidarity income (RSA) to the allowance for disabled adults (AAH), via the solidarity allowance for the elderly.

An increase in APL

Another proposed increase is that of personalized housing assistance (APL) paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF). The APLs will be revalued by 3.5% in order to “protect those who have the greatest difficulties” so that they can “pass this course of inflation”, further defended the Minister of the Economy, without giving a timetable. accurate.

Aid valid for all households

Although most of the aid is conditional on the situation and resources of the French, some provided for in the Purchasing Power bill, should affect all households, unconditionally.
