Singer Macy Gray on the Transgender Community: “Replacing Body Parts Doesn’t Make You a Woman”
The American star came to an interview on Pierce Morgan’s talk show and expressed her unequivocal opinion about the community, which managed to provoke a wide storm on the net and of course anger the transgender community
At first, it would have seemed like another routine interview with singer Macy Gray, but when asked about transgenderism she decided to express her personal opinion, and she spared no words. ‘I know I’ll say it and they’ll hate me, but I believe replacing body parts can not make you a woman. I’m sorry. We need more than that, ‘she said.
The singer added that she knows that many stars refrain from expressing their personal opinions, especially on issues of this type, due to fears of a broad attack both online and in reality. Gray wanted to say that despite her words, she supports the community. ‘I just do not believe things work that way. “If someone asks me to call her her, then I will do it, but that does not make him a woman,” she added.
Finally, the singer revealed that she supports writer JK Rowling, who holds similar views to hers, and has received quite a bit of fire over the past few years following what she said. ‘I do not think he should be called transphobic just because I do not agree. “A woman goes through a unique experience and surgery does not change that,” she concluded.
