The French have cut the holiday budget: “A trip abroad has become unthinkable”

The starting signal had been given on Friday. Officially, the school holidays had indeed started the night before. Many Ile-de-France residents did not hesitate to “skip” a day’s work, for example by filing an RTT, to leave “as soon as possible”. Some also feared a new call for a strike by railway workers, after that of last Wednesday, for wage demands.
