The women’s basketball reserve team tonight (Saturday) achieved a dramatic and impressive victory, 63:65 over Germany in the opening of the European Second Level Championship. Jordan Gerzon (17 points) provided a critical block in the final seconds of the game, helping the team maintain the lead until the end. Eden Tzipel (19 points) and Emma Rinat (16 points) also contributed to the big victory against the strongest team that Israel is expected to meet in the home stage.
Tal Natan’s players lagged behind in most stages of the game, with 10 minutes to go the Germans held a 5-point lead. The game remained close until the end, and as mentioned, Gerzon’s defensive move helped the team finish with a great victory, and a big step to start the championship with.
Apart from the three main stars of the team, Mai Revach contributed 6 points, Tamar Singer added 5, and Noa Givon finished with 2. Tal Natan’s players will have to return to the ground, as in the next two they are expected to meet Armenia for the second game in the tournament.
