The IPL series has always played a major role in increasing the popularity of the 20-over tournament in the world cricket arena. The IPL, which has millions of fans around the world, has been caught by a gang that faked it in Gujarat.

Around 21 people from Molipur village in Gujarat state have run fake IPL series to dupe Russian gamblers. They are said to have played the series wearing the jerseys of Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans.

The Mehsana district police have arrested four people behind the scam. They have also hired famous commentator Harsha Bhogle to do the voiceover to make it look like a real IPL game.

Named Indian Premier Cricket League, these matches were telecasted live on the YouTube channel. And Russian gamblers placed bets on a Telegram channel set up by the fraudsters. Police are further investigating the matter.
