Japan’s parliamentary elections – Shinzo Abe’s party wins most seats

by time news

Tokyo:

The shooting death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last Friday shocked the world.

In this case, the election for the upper house of the country’s parliament was held yesterday. Since Shinzo Abe was gunned down while campaigning for the election, security arrangements for the election had been beefed up.

Voters cast their votes in queues at all the polling booths. The election was peaceful. The ruling Liberal Democratic Party-led coalition was predicted to win a landslide victory, buoyed by a wave of sympathy following the killing of Shinzo Abe.

Accordingly, the ruling Liberation Democratic Party was leading in most places since the counting of votes began.

It was reported that the alliance won more than 146 of the total 248 seats.

In a few hours it was also announced that the alliance had won a majority of the seats.
