On July 19, 2021, the Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project (a project started by filmmaker Martin Scorsese in 2007) in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation and the Italy-based Cinetecca di Bologna restored Kummatti’s lost color palette. “Aravindan was a visionary director, and Kummatti is considered his best work. The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project will share this film with the audience it deserves. It is a real find,” said Scorsese.
