After the protest intensified, President Gotabaya Rajapakse sent a letter to Prime Minister Ranil Wickrama Singha. In it, he had mentioned, “As already announced, I will resign from the post on July 13.”

Gotabaya Rajapakse has repeatedly said that he will resign, but the protesting people in Colombo refuse to accept it. The protesters demanded that the President and the Prime Minister should resign immediately instead of waiting till 13th.

In this case, it has been reported that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has signed his resignation letter. It is noteworthy that Gotabaya Rajapakse had mentioned in his letter on July 13 that he would resign from his post tomorrow.
