Tel Aviv remains out of Time Out magazine’s list of the ten best cities in the world for 2022. Tel Aviv, the only city in Israel to enter the index, was ranked 31st out of 53 this year, in contrast to 2021, when it was in 8th place.

Despite the low ranking, Tel Aviv won second place in the “most enjoyable city” category, with Chicago in first place in the category. Among the reasons for choosing Tel Aviv in this category, mention was made of the free experiences the city provides, such as yoga classes at Gordon Pool, live performances and buses on weekends. And Pad & Bab.

In a questionnaire published in Time Out in preparation for the index, 78% of residents defined Tel Aviv as fun, and 93% of residents recommended it as a city to eat and drink in.

The index, published annually in Time Out magazine, attempts to examine the quality of life in different cities around the world, and this year, as a tribute to the world’s recovery from the corona, the index also refers to the experience of visiting different cities and not just permanent residences.

In first place: Endiburo

In first place in the index was Edinburgh, Scotland, which received a positive opinion on its entertainment venues, festivals and progressiveness. Second place went to Chicago, Illinois, and in Time Out we noted the evolving food scene in the city. In third place is Medellin, Colombia thanks to the nightlife scene that was defined in the magazine as “the best in the world”. Glasgow is in fourth place, and Amsterdam, which was relegated from 2nd place last year, closes the top five.

Prague, Marrakech, Berlin, Montreal and Copenhagen are 6-10 places respectively. When surprisingly only Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Montreal and Prague remained in the top ten from last year.

In addition to Tel Aviv, cities like New York and Tokyo came out of the top ten, and San Francisco, which last year picked up the title of best city in the world, entered 25th place this year.
