Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, announced the aid of 4.4 crore dirhams for the disabled in the emirate. The amount was allocated according to the interest of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, with the aim of empowering people with disabilities in Dubai. The assistance program aims to turn challenges into opportunities to achieve success in various fields and increase the contribution of such people to the development of Dubai and the UAE.

Sheikh Hamdan announced the project and said that he wants to create the best living conditions for the differently abled by providing all the possible facilities. Those below 60 years of age who are facing physical and mental challenges requiring the support of others will get the benefits. The scheme will cover fees in kindergarten institutions, schools, universities and rehabilitation centres. The government will also bear the cost of hiring shadow teachers, caretakers, personal assistants and sign language interpreters. This aims to promote the learning of the differently abled.

The scheme will also cover the cost of providing assistive devices and technologies for the smooth living of such people and setting up the workplace to accommodate people with various types of disabilities.
