Colombo: Sri Lanka’s tri-army commanders have appealed that the cooperation of the public is necessary to maintain law and order in Sri Lanka and that political solutions to the country’s chaos should be found quickly.

During this meeting Army Commander Shavendra Silva said: The public and the youth should maintain peace until the current situation is brought back to normal. All sides should extend support to the Triforce and the Police to maintain peace in the country. Do not damage personal or public property. We should be made responsible for protecting the country’s assets.
The tri-army and the police are on standby to maintain peace until the country’s new president is elected. An all-party meeting is held under the chairmanship of the Speaker. There is a political decision to be made. So the people said to keep calm.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued by the Sri Lankan Podujana Peramuna, we are ready to provide full support to maintain peace in the country.
