110 Crore New Drinking Water Project in Chinnamanur Municipality

Chinnamanur – Municipal officials have said that they have prepared an estimate of Rs.110 crore for the 24-hour supply of drinking water in Chinnamanur municipality and have sent it for government approval. Chinnamanur municipality has 27 wards and a population of 60 thousand. The expansion areas like Shivashakti Nagar, Minnagar, Eshilnagar, Lakshmi Nagar, Kannamma Garden are increasing. There are 8800 pipeline connections. 20 years ago the municipality started the supply by constructing a casing well in Mullai Periyar. At that time, a treatment plant was set up, purified and supplied with drinking water. After that, no expansion was made in the drinking water scheme. The municipality has decided to establish a mega special project to provide 24-hour drinking water to Chinnamanur municipality. Officials are trying to prepare a project with an estimate of Rs.110 crores and get government permission. Municipal Commissioner Ganesh, Engineer Rajavelu said: Drinking water project has not been improved for a long time. Currently, the main distribution pipes will be removed and newly installed. New refinery, modern pumping station, additional capacity motors will be installed. We are waiting for the government’s permission,” he said.
