Puducherry: The management of a private hotel volunteered to hand over 225 kg plastic bags for food distribution to the municipality.

The government has banned single-use plastic products in Puducherry. To control the use of such plastic items, the Uzhavargarh Municipal Administration is taking various measures, as part of which, officials are inspecting the restaurants. At that time, the disadvantages of serving hot food items in single-use plastic items were explained.

On that occasion, the owner of Kamakshi Hotel, which is operating in Puducherry city area, Rs. He volunteered to hand over 225 kg plastic bags worth 70,000 in the municipal office in the presence of Commissioner Sureshraj. The commissioner said that these plastic materials will be taken to the Kurumbapattu Municipal Garbage Dump, where they will be crushed by a machine and used to build roads in the municipal areas.

Similarly, other restaurants and commercial establishments should volunteer to hand over the single-use plastic items in their possession to the municipality.
