The father of a former U19 cricketer from the state had filed a police complaint against the Uttarakhand cricket officials. He had mentioned in the complaint that his son’s life had been threatened by team manager Navneet Mishra and video analyst Piyush Raghuvanshi during the Vijay Hazare series last year. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against three officials of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), namely Mahim Verma (Secretary), Manish Jha (Head Coach) and Sanjay Khusen (Communications Officer).

The Dehradun police interrogated the accused persons at the Vasant Vihar police station and recorded their statements. Dehradun Police SSP Janmejaya Khanduri said, “For the last three days, we have called Mahim Verma, Manish Jha and Sanjay Ghussain separately and interrogated them. We got their statement. He said they would be questioned again if necessary.
In the recent past, various problems including financial malpractice have surfaced in the Uttarakhand Cricket Association. The officials who did not buy food for the players playing for the state of Uttarakhand in the Ranji Trophy, told them to order food from Zomota, caused a controversy.
Apart from that, the news that the team manager had said that nobody would die if they did not eat for a day caused a stir in the cricket circles. Commenting on this complaint, Uttarakhand MLA Umesh Kumar said that there are various irregularities in the financial management of the Uttarakhand Cricket Board. He also said that there is suspicion of corruption and gambling and insisted that a proper investigation should be conducted.
